Christmas 2006 – It’s a wrap!

Christmas was awesome this year.

I was feeling rather oblique by the end of it, my legs and arms and stomach jutting out in various contorted directions as I tried to get the uncomfortable mess occupying my insides into some sense of order.

In other words I stuffed myself stupid…

I felt a bit mentally challenged as I dragged my carcas off to bed last night. And even worse as I got up this morning, is there such a thing as Christmas hangover, even when you haven’t consumed any alcohol?

Wow, but it was awesome on many levels!

All the family together, and we went and hung out with the Sweet Grannies at the nursing home in the arvo. Funny thing is that my Grandad opened that same nursing home thirty five years ago!

They don’t really know who I am anymore, but we all had a lovely time chatting and bringing the grannies up to speed on how many grand and great grand children they now have, and also the fact that they also have children, and that they had them together… “yes grandma, thats your husband Jim…”

But it’s amazing how they can have moments of great clarity, the prayer that Grandad prayed as we linked hands at the end was amazing.

I havn’t posted in soooo long!

It’s been quite a while, but here is a recap:

* I have now relenquished sound and lighting to the awesome Brad Sage at Generation Church
* Brad is a gun sound engineer, so he will take it forward much better than I ever could
* I am up to my armpits in cool proposals that will lift the atmosphere on Sundays!
* I recently revieved a huge revelation from God about “hope” and how the “buzz factor” generates atmosphere on Sundays at Generation Church!
* So many amazing things happening at Generation Church. The Gold Coast will never be the same!

Tech Pastor

Not that I’m big on titles or positions, but Ps Andrew and Vanessa have appointed me Tech Pastor @ Generation Church! So I’ll be starting fulltime in two weeks! I’m so excited to be on fulltime at church and so soon. If you had told me that I would be in fulltime ministry a year ago I would have laughed… and then said oh wow, that’s amazing.

Also of note, it has been one year since I signed up with Generation Church. It’s been the biggest ride of my life!

Back to blogging

Hiyas, I thought I’d post my first blog in quite a while! I know I’m been gone for too long, but I promise to keep posting as regularly as possible.

The last few months have been full-on fun and hard work helping Andrew and Vanessa and the whole team get Generation Church off the ground on the Gold coast. I have been involved in production and I’ve loved the challenge of learning about production challenges that face every sound guy in a church.

I’ve also been working with a small team on church news each week, which has been alot of fun and provides a regular creative outlet. Check out the church news video page. This page is being updated every week with fresh weekend news for our congregation at Reidy Creek. I have encoded the video in a number of different video formats including WMV, MOV and DivX. So I think that all the bases are covered, including a very high quality DivX option that allows people with a faster broadband connection to download the video and watch it on their computers. You may be interested to know that the DivX version is what we actually use for playback of church news for the weekend services! It’s quality is outstanding and file size is small compared to Mpeg-2 used to compress DVD video.

Picture resizing

Haha, cute picture of me!

[] I deleted it, someone told me I look like a serial killer, so it was time to take it off!

Actually, I was just playing with image resizing in WordPress. So if you click on the image above, it will take you to the larger version!

So there! I’m not nearly as narcisistic as you thought!
